The unique, undulating motion of The Belly Dancer® orbital shaker by IBI is expertly designed to provide optimal movement for tissue culture, staining and destaining gels, as well as Northern, Southern, or Western blotting, and immunoprecipitation. The system features a simple liquid agitation mechanism, with an orbiting platform flexibly anchored at four corners. When adjusted by the platform pitch control collar, this setup offers an extremely effective combination of a rocking platform mixer and orbital shaker. The agitation provided by The Belly Dancer® is gentler yet more efficient than ordinary shakers, thanks to its smooth combination of vertical and horizontal orbital motion, which allows for rapid solvent exchange in various applications while protecting sensitive cell lines from sheering during cell culture.

Durable Construction and Versatile Functionality
The Belly Dancer® is built to last, with a simple yet durable construction made from chemically resistant materials, including stainless steel and anodized aluminum parts, all finished with a high bake ester coating. The shaker features an open-sided platform that accommodates oversized containers and a removable, washable non-skid platform mat. Additionally, the flat power cord is designed to pass through incubator door gaskets without compromising the controlled environment. The platform’s motion can be easily adjusted using the pitch control collar, allowing for movement ranging from level to an 8° pitch. Capable of holding up to 20 lbs and operating with minimal noise, The Belly Dancer® functions within an ambient temperature range of 0°C to 40°C and offers variable speeds from 0 to 100 RPM, with smooth operation even at low speeds.

The 2nd Story Platform accessory for The Belly Dancer® doubles the usable platform capacity, featuring 4.5" aluminum spacer legs and a non-skid removable mat. Notably, The Belly Dancer® Shaker was previously manufactured by Stovall Scientific, and all IBI accessories and replacement parts remain fully compatible with the Stovall Belly Dancer®. Key features include adjustable speed (0–100 RPM) and platform pitch control (0°–8°), doubling the usable platform space with two 12” x 12” platforms, and the ability to operate in cold rooms and CO2 incubators (0°C–40°C).
